Kwanzaa, which means “first fruits of the harvest” in Swahili, honors African heritage in the African-American culture. It lasts one week, beginning on December 26 and ending on January 1, with each day devoted to one of the seven core principles, known in Swahili as Nguzo Saba. Here is your guide to Family-Friendly Kwanzaa Events & Celebrations in NJ and Beyond.

7. Imani (Faith): Believe in our parents and community leaders. Believe that African-Americans will win the struggle for equality.
